Miskito grammar article added

I have created a new article on Miskito grammar. Comments welcome! In a sense that just makes it all the more desirable for the Miskito language article to be fleshed out a bit. I could try doing that too, but if somebody else would like to give it a try, I would then be able to concentrate on the grammar writing! --A R King 06:29, 30 October 2006 (UTC)

Thanks for the article. My friend from Nicaragua says that Miskito is not a language but really a dialect.

Felix S. Ramsin ?

Who is this person? He is cited in both this article and the article for Miskito grammar, but I cannot find any references to this person outside of these two articles. I feel like the "modern" vocabulary credited to "Ramsin" should be treated as spurious—still, if anyone has leads, please provide a citation confirming this person's research. Confusing

The article on Miskito grammar says the language has 26 letters, but this article says it has 19. Not only that, but there are many discrepancies between the two. Could someone please fix this? Apollogetticax|^talk 07:57, 17 July 2024 (UTC)

Phonology

In the section "Phonology and Orthography" it describes Moskito as having five vowels, viz. a, e, i, o, and u. Multiple other sources, however, including the Wikipedia page on Moskito grammar, state that the language has three vowel qualities, viz. a, i, and u, and that all three have long and short variations. If anyone can confirm the vowels and fix this, and hopefully make an IPA chart, then that would be much appreciated. Layne Jameson Nunley (talk) 17:22, 13 March 2025 (UTC)

I'd like to second this observation. The current description of five vowels is inconsistent with the [[Miskito grammar]] article and external resources like [https://www.omniglot.com/writing/miskito.htm Omniglot], which clearly show a three-vowel system (/a/,/i/,/u/) with phonemic length.

Furthermore, the orthography for the voiceless sonorants (marked as lh, mh, nh, ngh, rh) is well-documented but missing from our current Phonology section. Since there seems to be a consensus across other pages and linguistic databases, we should update this section to reflect the three-vowel quality system and include a proper IPA consonant chart.
