Arbitration ruling on the treatment of pseudoscience

In December 2006, the Arbitration Committee ruled on guidelines for the presentation of topics as pseudoscience in Wikipedia:Requests for arbitration/Pseudoscience. The final decision included the following:

Neutral point of view as applied to science: Wikipedia:Neutral point of view, a fundamental policy, requires fair representation of significant alternatives to scientific orthodoxy. Significant alternatives, in this case, refers to legitimate scientific disagreement, as opposed to pseudoscience.
Serious encyclopedias: Serious and respected encyclopedias and reference works are generally expected to provide overviews of scientific topics that are in line with respected scientific thought. Wikipedia aspires to be such a respected work.
Obvious pseudoscience: Theories which, while purporting to be scientific, are obviously bogus, such as Time Cube, may be so labeled and categorized as such without more justification.
Generally considered pseudoscience: Theories which have a following, such as astrology, but which are generally considered pseudoscience by the scientific community may properly contain that information and may be categorized as pseudoscience.
Questionable science: Theories which have a substantial following, such as psychoanalysis, but which some critics allege to be pseudoscience, may contain information to that effect, but generally should not be so characterized.
Alternative theoretical formulations: Alternative theoretical formulations which have a following within the scientific community are not pseudoscience, but part of the scientific process.

The MMS Guy is pushing Calcium hypochlorite as the mark 2 version of his miracle cure.

Someone brought this article to the BLP board - normally, we have to be very careful with accusations against living people that haven't resulting in convictions. I've double checked and most of it is sourced, but I still the page should be deleted - he's only notable for promoting MMS.

... However, there is a bigger story here: MMS in Spanish Speaking Countries, especially during Covid. I absolutely feel that's notable. Should it be merged here? Moved to an article "MMS promotion in Spanish Speaking Countries?" I'd love a second opinion. Denaar (talk) 17:35, 14 July 2023 (UTC)Reply

"If, however, there is only enough information about one notable event related to the person, then the article should be titled specifically about that event." There really isn't a single article about him as a person, but rather, about his promotion of MMS. Lots of coverage of MMS that mentions him in passing (trivial mentions). Also "Editors must give serious consideration to not creating an article on an alleged perpetrator when no conviction is yet secured."... He's not been convicted of anything. Yet, I still think the information in those articles is notable, but it's "Promotion of MMS in Spanish especially as it led to people using the cure during Covid 19 to adverse results" that is the story. I've gone ahead and done the redirect instead of taking it to AfD. Because it's a living person who has been charged with, but not convicted of a crime, and the only thing I can find for the article is those charges, which are several years old with no follow up - I've moved them here. The situation in argentina might merit it's own article if someone could find some more resources; I came up short but a Spanish-speaking user might be able to find more follow up then I could. Usage in Cameroon

We have a section in the article titled Usage in Cameroon and Uganda, but the subsection about Cameroon is about a long-retracted publication describing a clinical trial that may never have happened.

Is there any independent evidence that anything actually happened in Cameroon? Any clinical trials, fraudulent or otherwise? Any widespread use of any 'treatment'? TenOfAllTrades(talk) 04:41, 16 November 2025 (UTC)Reply
