Request for accuracy review and COI disclosure by Minskin Breed Founder
[edit]Hello, I am writing to seek assistance with the Minskin page. I am the founder of this breed (started in 1998) and have worked closely with geneticists, including the late Dr. Solveig Pflueger, to establish the breed within TICA and WCF. I am concerned that the current version of the page contains significant factual inaccuracies regarding the breed’s health and development. Specifically: Health Claims: Recent edits have introduced claims of breed-specific health issues that are not supported by veterinary data or the TICA breed committee. Source Reliability: Several citations currently used lean toward a specific bias against dwarf breeds rather than peer-reviewed or registry-approved data. Breed Status: The page requires updates to accurately reflect our current standing within international registries. I acknowledge that as the breed founder, I have a Conflict of Interest (COI). I want to respect Wikipedia’s guidelines and avoid "edit warring," which led to my previous account being restricted. I am not looking to make the page a "fan page," but rather a scientifically and historically accurate record. How can I best provide the correct documentation (such as TICA standards and health reports) to an impartial editor who can help clean up these inaccuracies and protect the page from unsourced disparagement? - Feline Orthopaedics (2021) refers to the minskin as a 'chondrodystrophic' breed and is peer-reviewed. TICA reports are not going to trump veterinary sources for veterinary claims.
- If the registration status of the breed has changed I can update that if you mention which registries now recognise it. Traumnovelle (talk) 19:50, 11 February 2026 (UTC)
- There are two registries that recognize Minskins as an established breed; The International Cat Association TICA and The World Cat Federation WCF Minskinbreedfounder (talk) 20:11, 18 February 2026 (UTC)
- I don't see the Minskin on the website of TICA nor WCF. Traumnovelle (talk) 20:22, 18 February 2026 (UTC)
- Minskins are recognized in TICA but not yet Championship so are not in all listings. I know that WCF recognizes them and allows registration, I don't know much else about WCF largely in the Russian region. Minskinbreedfounder (talk) 00:41, 19 February 2026 (UTC)
- If you can point me to the pages that state they are recognised I can add that information. Traumnovelle (talk) 04:56, 19 February 2026 (UTC)

- The Health page shines a very negative light on this very healthy cat breed. There is a clear bias with highlights of debilitating conditions which are untrue and unfounded. Minskinbreedfounder (talk) 00:55, 19 February 2026 (UTC)
- The sources on the health section are reliable sources, including peer-reviewed veterinary sources. There is minimal data on the health of the breed due to being rare and novel but it is fair to assume (and reliable sources have made this assumption) that due to it possessing the same form of dwarfism as the Munchkin, that those health issues will affect it.
