After the rejection of the first version of the Draft:Milos Ercegovac, I have edited the text to incorporate the comments from the reviewer @MediaKyle: I would appreciate any additional feedback that could be provided about this new version, which now contains more citations to external sources and removed text that could not be supported by a public source. Any feedback will be highly appreciated. Jh2024 (talk) 17:52, 23 December 2025 (UTC)Reply
I asked at the help desk and this is what they said:
Draft:Milos Ercegovac is not "hanging in the air". It was submitted for review by @Jh2024 one week ago, and is sitting in the pile of drafts awaiting review, with a note at the top saying "this could take 2 or three weeks".
The review process is not about Ercegovac, it is about whether the draft meets Wikipedia's criteria for an acceptable article; and in my opinion it does not, since as far as I can see, not a single one of its fifteen cited sources meets the requirements of being a reliable source wholly independent of Ercegovac and containing significant material about him (see WP:42).
There is not much that you or anybody can do to speed this up, but you or anybody can certainly increase the chances of it being accepted by adding some better sources.
A Wikipedia article should be a neutral summary of what the majority of people who are wholly unconnected with the subject have independently chosen to publish about the subject in reliable publications, (see Golden rule) and not much else. What you know (or anybody else knows) about the subject is not relevant except where it can be verified from a reliable published source. ColinFine (talk) 12:08, 12 January 2026
Thanks for the feedback provided above. As suggested, I have added links to Dr. Ercegovac's bio at UCLA and SPIE. In addition, I have restructured the text so that institutional sources are listed first among the references, and publications are listed later. I am working under the perspective that books published by major publishers are also recognizable as an independent reference source of notable material, in particular when a book has been widely cited (as per Google Scholar).
Hallelujah! It is done. I am not going to be able to help you with Lang however although I had run into him long, long ago. By the way, I know who you are from your days at IBM, but we have never met. Good luck and perhaps you can improve some Wiki content. Cheers Yesterday, all my dreams... No worries. Milos was not a friend of mine and I only knew him briefly. But everyone considered him a nice guy I think. So that was the least I could do. I am glad he lived long, unlike many people in that place like Popek, Martin etc. Take care. Yesterday, all my dreams... (talk) 21:12, 13 January 2026 (UTC)Reply
