"As smooth as a milk maid's skin"

There seem to be no references to this as a phrase, unless it was used ironically. Jenner apparently took infectious material from a cowpox lesion on a milkmaid's hand which implies they suffered from pockmarks. I have no idea when this was added but it seems to have suddenly become a fact elsewhere and someone who know this sort of thing should check I think as it seems erroneous. Past tense?

The article is written in the past tense. This suggests to me that there aren't any milkmaids left, but that's a very strong claim --- can it be substantiated? --jftsang 22:40, 1 April 2019 (UTC) I know that milk maids still exist for a fact because I am one. If the cows come down with a disease and I am working close to them, I also come down with the sickness. If I am sick and they don't have it yet they will get it from me.
