Which devices may block internal microphone?

Currently no confirmation of any mobile device manufacturer found , confirming that if external microphone is inserted , internal microphone is blocked and can not record.

If such data will be published it will help users to be sure that their device is secure...

Looks like that some devices allow internal and external microphone works simultaneously or may not recognize external microphone ( so internal may work) , examples below: Davidy2001 (talk contribs‎) 12:56, 26 November 2018‎

Davidy2001 an update in 2025 (I removed your "not"). I know of two plug-in Microphone Blockers for mobile phones:

1. Mic-Lock designed by Ric Ralston in the US.
2. A Czech design I have seen demonstrated at a show in København in 2023.

There is a dichotomy between 2 Wikipedia titans:

1. User:GuccizBud who (quite rightly] wants more references
2. Aoidh who is removing them as they are from trade sources.

There must be a middle way, especially as Microphone Blockers exist and can be bought and utilised to protect individuals' privacy. So I am going to add the US Patent and other trade sources from different companies to show that this technology is real and request that Aoidh or any other Wikipedian replace them with a better reference as a "Best is the enemy of the good" approach leads to implying (or misleading) readers that Microphone Blockers are mythical and totally uncited which is untrue. Can I also point to the guidance on Wikipedia:When to cite#Challenging another user's edits and put discussion's on this talk page, rather than removing potentially useful current and maybe temporary but illuminating citations.

There is no dichotomy; the middle ground is to add independent sources. The article needing additional sources does not mean permitting self-serving references added by an editor with a COI. - Aoidh (talk) 21:26, 8 April 2026 (UTC)

Regarding:
