It seems to me that this statement is false. The article quotes bubble sizes of around 50 microns, or 50um. The wavelength of light is closer to 500nm or 0.5um, so the bubbles are about 100 times larger than the wavelength of light. Also, being close to the wavelength of light is not a requirement for invisibility, things much larger than that are invisible to the casual observer...

I recommend that the statement be replaced with something like this:

"Since the size of the cells is very small, to the casual observer this foam retains the appearance of a solid light colored plastic"
