Proposed comprehensive update (biography, sources, post-2025)
[edit]I am proposing a substantial update to this article to address several issues:
- the article is out of date (Michael Mulkay died in October 2025)
- sourcing is currently thin in places
- some wording is opinionated and does not fully align with Wikipedia’s neutral tone
- recent scholarship and biographical details are missing
I have prepared a fully sourced draft rewrite in my sandbox: User:Micrology/sandbox
My intention is to integrate this material into the existing article rather than create a duplicate page. I would welcome comments or suggestions before proceeding, and will make changes incrementally to allow review. Micrology (talk) 11:11, 31 January 2026 (UTC)
Move page title
[edit]I also propose moving the article from “Mike Mulkay” to “Michael Mulkay”, as:
- his publications are under “Michael Mulkay”
- this is the form used in academic citations
- “Mike” appears to be informal and not used professionally
I would welcome views before making the move. Micrology (talk) 21:49, 6 February 2026 (UTC)
Update completed
[edit]I’ve now integrated the draft material from my sandbox into the article. Thanks for any comments received — further suggestions welcome. Micrology (talk) 12:58, 8 February 2026 (UTC)
