General: Article is new enough and long enough
Policy: Article is sourced, neutral, and free of copyright problems
Hook: Hook has been verified by provided inline citation
QPQ: Done.

Overall: Four days old, prose 3280 B. Prefer ALT0. Nothing else worth noting. ミラP@Miraclepine 15:31, 3 January 2026 (UTC)Reply

@Thriley:, @The Robot Parade: I'd promote ALT0, but I see the source is talking about a tour that "will" happen. Could we get a source describing the tour after it happened? (please ping upon answering) Barbalalaika 🐌 18:05, 20 February 2026 (UTC)Reply
@Narutolovehinata5: what about ALT3 that Michael Lippman got David Bowie on Soul Train? Thriley (talk) 01:26, 3 March 2026 (UTC)Reply
@Thriley: As far as I can tell, the issue is the article and not the hook, so maybe that has to be addressed instead? Narutolovehinata5 (talk · contributions) 01:27, 3 March 2026 (UTC)Reply
From a quick search, I see articles about the tour published before and during the tour, but not after. Maybe one of my alts can run instead? Thriley (talk) 01:38, 3 March 2026 (UTC)Reply
any thoughts? Bowie's performance on soul train is one of the iconic moments in 1970s American music. I’d love to see that hook run. Thriley (talk) 01:42, 3 March 2026 (UTC)Reply
@Thriley: Two issues here. One, not every reader, especially non-Americans or maybe non-Brits, would know about said performance, so I'd be wary about a hook that is reliant on knowledge from one country (in this case, the US). The other is that, if there are sources from during the tour, maybe that should already suffice? The concerns were about there being nothing from before the tour. Narutolovehinata5 (talk · contributions) 01:46, 3 March 2026 (UTC)Reply
They don't have to know about the performance. They'd learn from the hook. They'd be able to learn about two important genre-crossing subjects in the industry, Bowie and Soul Train and be curious about the person who connected the two. Thriley (talk) 01:49, 3 March 2026 (UTC)Reply
Just the word Soul Train is enough to inspire a little curiosity. Thriley (talk) 01:50, 3 March 2026 (UTC)Reply
@Thriley: Thanks for pinging me. I'm a little busy this week but will try to look through the nomination tomorrow and give my two cents. My quick thought on Alt3 is that I have no idea what soul train is or why it'd be relevant, so if you want to use that I'd at least present it with a quick description. Barbalalaika 🐌 07:55, 3 March 2026 (UTC)Reply
I think because many people don't know what Soul Train is, it will make them click. Do you find it intriguing? Thriley (talk) 18:29, 3 March 2026 (UTC)Reply
Frankly, I don't think that is the case here. Just because something is unfamiliar does not necessarily mean it is inherently intriguing. It's a context-based thing. Just putting out a name without context or background is not interesting by itself. Narutolovehinata5 (talk · contributions) 02:43, 4 March 2026 (UTC)Reply
@Thriley: I have to agree with Narutolovehinata5. Placing Soul Train without context makes it look like clickbait (people have to click to find out what it is, if they can even be bothered). besides, the article is about Michael Lippman, so the clicks should go to him. That'll only happen if people are impressed by the hook.
I still recommend giving Soul Train a quick description (why is it a big deal that Bowie was in Soul Train?). Otherwise, maybe you can formulate an ALT that mentions all the different, internationally known stars he worked with: Bowie, Megadeth, Jane's Addiction are all bands also known outside the USA. Or you can formulate a hook talking about Bowie's and Lippman's quarrel but later reconciliation and friendship.
Regarding the holographic karaoke: you said you found sources mentioning it "during" the tour. As long as they show that it actually happened, I'd deem it fine (Narutolovehinata5 is a more experienced reviewer and can confirm). It did seem to happen according to what little I can see in this source before the paywall.- There's at least a screenshot of a fan engaging in the karaoke. I'd need a complete source though, if you can find anything. Barbalalaika 🐌 15:05, 4 March 2026 (UTC)Reply
@Barbalalaika: Since there has been no response from Thriley, do you think this should just be timed out, or could you approve one of the other hooks? Narutolovehinata5 (talk · contributions) 02:36, 6 March 2026 (UTC)Reply
For what it's worth, I was able to read the Billboard source, but it is still talking in future tense and the tour was not yet ongoing or had happened. Narutolovehinata5 (talk · contributions) 03:00, 6 March 2026 (UTC)Reply
@Narutolovehinata5: I'll promote ALT2 then. It's interesting enough (frankly I think I overlooked ALT2).
Not sure what to do about the mention of the holographic tour in the article. I think it's fine as is, since the formulation doesn't explicitly say the tour took place. But that snippet can be removed later if anyone feels strongly about it. Barbalalaika 🐌 08:35, 6 March 2026 (UTC)Reply
