Request for review of maintenance tags
[edit]Conflict-of-interest disclosure: I am Michael L. Good, the subject of this article.
The article has carried the “additional citations” and “résumé-style” maintenance tags since June 2018. I have recently worked to address the issues identified by those tags by adding citations for previously unsupported biographical information, adding independent secondary sources where available, revising career material for a more neutral biographical style, reducing lists of positions and accomplishments, and removing outdated external links and the succession box.
Because I am the subject of the article, I do not want to remove the maintenance tags myself. I would appreciate review by an uninvolved editor to determine whether either or both tags are still warranted and, if so, what additional changes would be appropriate. Thank you. ~~~~ Vadocgood55 (talk) 12:58, 4 September 2026 (UTC)
- Vadocgood55 this message doesn't make a lot of sense, as ten minutes before you posted it, you made a major edit to the article including removing the maintenance templates. So I have reverted that edit for now, because as the subject of the article, you are requested to abide by WP:COI which asks you not to directly edit the article. Please propose changes here instead, which can most easily be done using the Wikipedia:Edit request wizard. Thank you Melcous (talk) 13:08, 4 September 2026 (UTC)
- Thank you, Melcous. You are correct, and I apologize for the confusion. I was attempting to improve the sourcing and style of the article, and in replacing the article source after an editing problem I inadvertently omitted the existing maintenance templates. I did not intend to remove them myself, which is why I subsequently posted the request here for independent review. I appreciate the guidance regarding WP:COI. I will not directly edit the article further and will propose the changes here using the Edit Request Wizard. Thank you. Vadocgood55 (talk) 13:15, 4 September 2026 (UTC)
COI edit request: sourcing and biographical style revisions
[edit]| This edit request by an editor with a conflict of interest was declined. A reviewer felt that this edit would not improve the article. |
- What I think should be changed (include citations):
I am the subject of this article and have disclosed my conflict of interest above on this talk page. I request that an uninvolved editor review and consider revisions to improve the article's sourcing and biographical style. The proposed revisions would:
add citations for previously unsupported biographical information in the Early life and education section; revise the University of Florida and University of Utah Health career sections into narrative prose and reduce résumé-like lists of positions and accomplishments; add or improve citations to independent secondary sources where available; retain a shorter Professional service section limited to notable positions supported by published sources; remove outdated external links and the succession box; and add the existing subject affiliation to Category:University of Utah faculty.
I previously made these revisions directly, but that edit was reverted because of my COI. The exact text and citations can be reviewed in the proposed revised version. I am requesting that an uninvolved editor review that revision and implement, modify, or decline the proposed changes as appropriate. I will not restore the revision myself.
I am not requesting that the maintenance templates be removed as part of this edit request. I would leave that determination to uninvolved editors after reviewing any changes they choose to implement.
- Why it should be changed:
The article has carried maintenance concerns regarding additional citations and résumé-style writing since June 2018. The proposed revisions are intended to address the underlying sourcing and style issues by providing citations for biographical facts, using more neutral narrative prose, reducing list-like career material, and relying on independent published sources where reasonably available. I welcome modification or partial implementation of the proposed text by an uninvolved editor as needed to comply with Wikipedia policies and guidelines.

[edit]
Not done: The proposed article reads like resume. It cites big laundry lists of achievements without any detail about the subject's role. I think some of the sections in the current article could be improved or expanded with some of these citations though. I suggest taking a look at WP:CHANGEXY for submitting a request with more specific and individually reviewable changes. Packrat3860 (talk) 23:41, 13 September 2026 (UTC)
COI edit request: early life wording and citation
[edit]| This edit request by an editor with a conflict of interest has now been answered. Set |answered=no to reactivate the request if necessary. |
- What I think should be changed:
Conflict-of-interest disclosure: I am Michael L. Good, the subject of this article.
Change X: “Born and raised in Waterford, Michigan, Good attended Waterford Ketting High School then graduated from the University of Michigan with a bachelor’s degree in computer and communication sciences.”
To Y: “Good attended Waterford Kettering High School.[1] He graduated from the University of Michigan with a bachelor’s degree in computer and communication sciences.”
- Why it should be changed:
This suggested edit removes the unsupported statement that I was born and raised in Waterford, corrects the school name from “Ketting” to “Kettering,” and provides a source documenting attendance at Waterford Kettering High School. The existing citation for the University of Michigan degree can remain unchanged. I request that an uninvolved editor make this change if appropriate.

[edit]COI edit request: medical education and UF training citations

Please be extremely patient. There are currently 876 requests waiting for review. Please read the instructions for the parameters used by this template for accepting and declining them, and review the request below and make the edit if it is well sourced, neutral, and follows other Wikipedia guidelines and policies. Remember to set the |answered= parameter to "yes" when the request has been accepted, rejected or on hold awaiting user input. |
Conflict-of-interest disclosure: I am Michael L. Good, the subject of this article.
- What I think should be changed:
Change X: “He also earned his medical degree from Michigan and moved to Gainesville in 1984 to complete residency training in anesthesiology and a research fellowship at University of Florida, where he joined the College of Medicine faculty in 1988.[citation needed]”
To Y: “He earned his medical degree from the University of Michigan Medical School.[1] In 1984, he moved to Gainesville, Florida, for residency training in anesthesiology and a research fellowship at the University of Florida, where he joined the College of Medicine faculty in 1988.[2]”
- Why it should be changed:
The existing sentence is marked “citation needed.” The proposed change provides sources for the medical degree and for the subsequent residency, research fellowship, and faculty appointment, while separating the education and postgraduate training information for clarity. It does not add additional positions or accomplishments. I request that an uninvolved editor make the change if appropriate.
