[edit]I hope to publish this Metropolis Video article in the next few days. I invite comment regarding a possible conflict of interest (COI). I was a member of Metropolis Video. The group was active in 1975 and early 1976. The idea of taking several new, at the time, portable video cameras, connecting them to a video switcher and making it possible to edit a multi-camera program live, on the fly, was way ahead of its time.
No market existed for music videos. MTV wouldn't start for five years. The group disbanded. Yet the work lives on as a unique record of early performances of bands at CBGB's. I provide two citations, John Rockwell's review from the New York Times and the two-evening show at The Kitchen in 1977 that demonstrate the notability of Metropolis Video.
