Smokefoot This is another one! Other readers please see discussion at WT:WikiProject_Chemicals#Carboxylic_acids_vs_carboxylate_anion/esters. These articles are (slowly) being merged with their parent acid. Current exceptions are acetate, formate, butyrate, jasmonate and oxalate. There may be a case for this article being used as a {{See|Methacrylate#polymers}} or something similar at methacrylic acid.
