[edit]The beginning said that Mesostigma is a species. So I added viride because that is part of the species name and is also specified in the taxobox. But a large part of this little article seems to be about the genus. For example, the species is not basal. Maybe the genus is. I don't know. The whole concept of basal extant taxon seems fishy to me. In each fork, both branches are equally basal. It seems that the concept of basal presupposes that certain branches are central and others are peripheral. Such designations are completely subjective. --Ettrig (talk) 08:22, 17 March 2011 (UTC)
