It is incorect to refer to Amateur Radio bands as unlicenced. Radio amateurs all need a licence. There are unlicenced bands that overlap amateur bands. PhilG3TCU (talk) 19:41, 15 September 2025 (UTC)Reply

I assumed the idea behind that leading statement, was that this system uses bands which are related to amateur radio, but not ones which require licensing to use. If you are in agreement with that summary, should we perhaps just remove that link to Amateur Radio, and reword it slightly? It is an ISM band, which allows for license-free usage up to a specific broadcast power. With a license, the broadcast power can be increased within the USA.
