Endemic To New Zealand misleading

[edit]

I think it's a problem that the article starts out starting that the plant is "Endemic to Be Zealand" when it is only native to a few small islands and introduced to mainland New Zealand (which is mentioned further into the article). Could it be an idea to change the intro to say it's endemic to the island in question, so it would not mislead conservationists to leave it even plant it on conservation land? svend (talk) 22:59, 22 February 2025 (UTC)Reply

Since you received no response, I think you should just go ahead and do the edit. On a related topic, a mention of the culinary use of puka leaves by Maori would explain why the tree was cultivated on the mainland of Aotearoa. [It's used to wrap uncooked food before the latter is placed in an earth oven on top of heated rocks.] Melba1 (talk) 06:59, 12 October 2025 (UTC)Reply
