5th century founding date dispute

[edit]

The article by Herbert Lewis that is used as a source for claims that there was activity in the area before the 13th century says nothing of the sort. Its only references to Merca are already here: we added the claims made by the two geographers (Ibn Said and al-Idrisi) and reproduced by Lewis regarding possible dates when settlers first arrived. Since this claim has, for whatever reason, become hugely contentious, I'm not even leaving it in with a cite-needed template. It's gone because it's unsourced and, given a difference of between 800-999 years between the well-sourced claims and the unsourced claims, it's likely false. If the user who kept removing the template is really up to no good, that's going to be a really, really big problem. RunnyAmiga (talk) 16:08, 18 June 2016 (UTC)Reply

Pre colonial inhabitants of marka

[edit]

It seems as those there isn't enough information of the pre colonial era. For example how many towns the constituted and the tribes that lived there before the revolt. From my understanding it was the 12da Koofi Marka. Anyone want to try and find sources? Jamal el layl (talk) 20:24, 29 December 2019 (UTC)Reply
