The result of the move request was: not moved. Largely based on the opinion that MEOVV is not an acronym or abbreviation, which was the primary argument for a move here, and although whether it is wasn't settled, others opposed adjusting the title as it could be expressed in uppercase for marketing purposes, a practice which Wikipedia generally does not follow. Reading the article, I see the explanation of the group's name being: "To add some artistic fun, we ended up writing 'MEOW' as 'MEOVV' and I liked that each letter represents our members. I liked the team name from the moment I first heard it." This reads as the name is derived from writing the word "Meow" as "Meovv", not that the name is an anagram. Also there are other groups whose names are acronyms and are also in all caps (ex. STAYC, DIA, NU'EST, I.O.I, etc.) ItzyWooah (talk) 17:42, 30 April 2025 (UTC)

Oppose per Flabshoe, the name is a backronym and this is more of marketing a gimmick than anything meaningful. It is pronounced as "meow", not "em ee oh vee vee", the acronym is clearly secondary. orangesclub 🍊 07:35, 4 May 2025 (UTC)

I understand but "MEOVV" being an acronym doesn't make sense, seeing as the w is stylistically swapped for vv. VVide isn't a word to create an acronym out of - I'd understand if it were My Eyes Open Very Vastly, but as we have it now, it almost seems like it should be MEOVv which isn't the answer. Oppose According to Orangeclub and Flabshoe, the page shouldn't be renamed to MEOVV. While Meovv can be interpreted as an acronym for My Eyes Open VVide (Wide), that meaning came later and was mainly created for branding purposes. The original inspiration for the name actually came from the word “Meow,” not the abbreviation. In contrast, groups like STAYC made their abbreviation the primary identity, with the pronunciation being secondary — a distinction Meovv does not share. Oppose the supposed acronym is a flimsy marketing gimmick at best. The “VV” makes it pretty well not an acronym as “VV” does not mean “w”. 47.55.185.159 (talk) 13:57, 8 May 2025 (UTC)

Weak support oppose, prefer to wait 3–6 months. Whether or not MEOVV is an acronym is irrelevant or at best secondary; what matters is usage in outside sources. This is clearly a marketing gimmick that has been adopted by numerous K-pop groups. Wikipedia avoids these unless independent, reliable sources overwhelmingly follow all-caps or other creative styling (see MOS:CAPS and WP:TMCAPS). I looked at the first five pages of Google News results, and out of 50 articles, only three did not did not use all-caps. (The third reference, Entertainment Paper, is apparently blacklisted.) Among the 47 pieces that do use all caps were The Hollywood Reporter and Teen Vogue, along with many sources that are based in South Korea and/or appear dedicated to K-pop. Since sources do show a clear preference, the move is arguably justified, but it's possible usage will shift if this group has sustained coverage in a range of sources.
