Merge suggest

[edit]

Appears that Meghna Group and Meghna Group of Industries are about the same company. Propose merging. Sgt9635 (talk) 11:59, 30 July 2021 (UTC)Reply

  • Don't merge – Despite the similarity in name, these are unrelated conglomerates. Meghna Group was found in the late 1960s by Abdul Khaleque Bunyan and is centered on bicycles, with other business lines being "tyres, components, automobiles, garments, plastic polymers, retail & finance". Meghna Group of Industries was founded in 1976 by Mostafa Kamal as Kamal Trading Company. It is centered on consumer staples (fast-moving consumer goods), with other businesses being "building materials, pulp and paper, LPG, feeds, fiber, power plants, shipping, seeds crushing, chemicals, ship building, dockyard, securities, insurance, media and aviation." --Worldbruce (talk) 16:58, 8 August 2021 (UTC)Reply

Request to Update Lead Section

[edit]

Hello editors,

I am disclosing that I have a conflict of interest as I work with Meghna Group. As per Wikipedia guidelines, I will not make any direct edits to the article, but I would like to suggest a revised version of the lead section for your review. I believe this version better reflects the scope and significance of the company based on publicly available information.

Proposed new lead section:

Meghna Group is one of Bangladesh’s largest and most diversified industrial conglomerates, founded in 1974 by Dr. Alhajj Abdul Khalek Bhuiyan. Headquartered in Dhaka, the group operates across a wide range of sectors, including bicycles and bicycle components, ready-made garments (RMG), tires, automotive distribution, packaging, household products, and financial services.

The group is known for pioneering the bicycle industry in Bangladesh and has received multiple National Export Trophies in recognition of its contributions. Meghna was also a founding initiator of Prime Bank Limited, reflecting its role in the country’s financial sector.

Meghna Group has established partnerships with international brands from Germany, Japan, and the USA, and maintains manufacturing capabilities that meet global standards.

Please let me know if any part of this needs further refinement or citation. I am happy to support with sources if required. Thank you for your time and consideration! Meghnacontributor (talk) 15:35, 4 June 2025 (UTC)Reply
