Decision on: Labeling or categorizing BLP subjects as TERFs or trans-exclusionary radical feminists

[edit]

The RfC consensus is: we should generally provide in text attribution when using the term "TERF" in a BLP. Pyxis Solitary yak 10:49, 12 September 2019 (UTC)Reply

Feminist

[edit]

Can we discuss whether to remove Murphy from feminist lists? As per her own website, she doesn't identify as a leftist or feminist. Pinging @Newimpartial @Pyxis Solitary 69.157.2.155 (talk) 07:26, 18 October 2024 (UTC)Reply

Too many primary sources

[edit]

This article uses a lot of primary sources, especially quotes from Murphy herself. Typically, the bit about her being a former socialist feminist and then rejecting both socialism and feminism, while quite funny, is based on three direct quotes (one from an interview in The Spectator, two from her own Substack). There are places in the article where a large amount of ink is given to Murphy's own wording of her stances. Even the bits about people protesting her public appearances are mostly based on her own reporting. I'm not sure, though, about how to disminish this article's reliance on its subject's direct quotes without removing too big a part of it. Rell Canis (talk) 12:54, 23 April 2025 (UTC)Reply

While I agree that we should look for other sources (I'm the one who added that she no longer identifies that way) the issue with trying to find other sources is that people just don't give a shit about her anymore. Murphy has been relegated to irrelevance and just lives in Mexico now. It's not even clear to me if she was in Canada during her election campaign. It's the best way to keep the article updated without reverting back to characterising someone who is decidedly not a feminist as one. 69.157.0.123 (talk) 08:59, 1 September 2025 (UTC)Reply
