Rationale and justification of this article

[edit]

As the original author of this article, I do not have any affiliation to this company neither do I have complete information about it. It is a privately established company under the direct governance of the Central Bank of Egypt (a governmental organisation). The company is already well established (for about a year or more now) and is popular in Egypt. I am only reporting information about it and not trying to advertise it. I am writing an article about it as a tech enthusiast willing to share information about major tech developments in Egypt. I think it is important to have information about it in WP as it seems like a large-scale financial services company that might be of interest for persons studying development in this field. Any person who has further information or improvements is welcome to contribute as I only started the article as a stub with basic information (without intention to advertise it by no means). I added further primary references to improve the neutrality and objectivity of the article. Amsguc (talk) 14:54, 29 December 2019 (UTC)Reply

Disputed classification: Type should be Public not Private

[edit]

The article currently lists Meeza's type as "Private", but this classification appears to contradict the sources cited in the article itself. According to references 2, 3, and 4:

1. Meeza is supported by the Egyptian government (refs 2, 3)

2. It is regulated by the Egyptian Central Bank (ref 4)

3. It is regulated by the Egyptian Banks Company (EBC), which is a government-owned entity (ref 4)

4. The article explicitly states: "It is supported by the Egyptian government and is regulated by the Egyptian Central Bank and the national Egyptian Banks Company (EBC)."

Meeza is a national electronic payment system for domestic transactions within Egypt, established as a government initiative for financial inclusion. This characterization, consistent even with the current article, indicates that Meeza functions as a publicly-administered payment infrastructure, not as a private company.

Type field should be corrected to "Public" to accurately reflect that Meeza is a government-supported and government-regulated national payment system. ~2026-35547-13 (talk) 22:09, 17 June 2026 (UTC)Reply
