Dates in lead

[edit]

WP:BIRTHDATE says Birth and death dates are important to the person being described, but if they are also mentioned in the body, the vital year range (in brackets after the person's full name) may be sufficient to provide context. As the creating editor of this article, I much prefer the cleaner look of simple year range in lead. But I also had a look at a few recent biographical FAs - at Wikipedia:Today's_featured_article/January_2016 - and note that those with birth and death dates both known use the simple year range in lead (eg Stella Gibbons, . Please do not change the dates in this article back to use full dates in the lead. and initially thought the style used on that page reflected the lead of the FAs, till I clicked through to Stella Gibbons etc and realised that the full article does have the full dates!
