I was a little confused to find San Simón immediately redirect to Maximon... I understand that is the proper original name of the deity / saint / exulted figure, but outside of a very specific region of Guatemala that is simply not the common name in use in most of the world these days. Go in to any Mexican grocer in N. America and you can find seven-day candles for San Simón right next to St. Mary and Lady Death. At this point the San Simón interpretation of this saint is much, much better known in the Anglo-sphere and Latin America, so the redirection to the old local name seems a bit baffling. It'd be like if the "Jesus in Islam" article didn't get around to mentioning the name "Isa" until the very end of the article, it's strange. There's clearly some busy editors in the anthro project here, at least -- would anyone want to take a swing at giving this an upgrade? San Simón does seem to be getting more notable every year...

San Simón is worshipped much more widely than highland Guatemala, he is also venerated in practically identical form in Mexico (although not with the name Maximón), and I have come across him in Oaxaca. San Simón is also recognised by some Catholic Ladinos. His worship has also been carried to the US and elsewhere by Latin American immigrants.
