Proposed rewrite of Maurice Handford article – conflict of interest disclosure

[edit]

I am Maurice Handford's son and therefore have a conflict of interest in relation to this article. I have prepared a proposed rewrite in my user-space draft, based on published sources including the Royal Academy of Music Magazine (Spring 1987), Hallé News (April 1987), Michael Kennedy's The Hallé Tradition, contemporary newspaper and broadcast sources, and institutional sources including the Royal Academy of Music, Hallé Orchestra and Calgary Philharmonic Orchestra.

The proposed rewrite substantially expands the existing article, covering Handford's years as Principal Horn and Associate Conductor of the Hallé, his international conducting career, his work at the Royal Academy of Music, his recordings and broadcasts, and contemporary assessments of his conducting and influence.

The proposed article can be found at User:NHaccount/Maurice Handford draft

Because of my relationship to the subject, I have not replaced the existing article myself. I would be grateful if an uninvolved editor could review the draft and, if appropriate, implement the proposed rewrite. I am very happy to respond to any questions about the sources or make changes suggested by an independent editor. NHaccount (talk) 15:19, 14 September 2026 (UTC)Reply
