I see nothing in our sources to suggest he's known in the West as Matthew rather than Matvey. We do sometimes translate names, such as Peter the Great rather than Pyotr the Great, and Leo Tolstoy rather than Lev Tolstoy, but we leave Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky, Ivan the Terrible, Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov et al alone. It's only super-familiar names that get translated, and not even all of them. I see no case for that treatment here. -- Jack of Oz [pleasantries] 18:55, 19 August 2023 (UTC)Reply
