Birth date

Understood, just not sure if there is a source that has them all. However, most sources indicate the age of Hiltzik, which then can be combined with the source of date and month to know the year as well.(AEAA (talk) 20:13, 11 June 2012 (UTC))

That makes sense. After looking at multiple sources, it is clear that they contain the age of Hiltzik. That going along with the article from Politico should be sufficient. (GD23 (talk) 14:45, 12 June 2012 (UTC))

promotionalism

I have removed a considerable amount of promotionalism from the article. The details of what he did for his various customers are shown in the references--I kept essentially all of them, though I removed a long quotation not primarily about him from one. It now reads like an encyclopedia article, not a promotional web page. I think I did enough to prevent a second AfD DGG ( talk ) 23:36, 8 February 2013 (UTC)

Add: Hiltzik personally represented disgraced financier Jeffery Epstein in relation to the media surrounding the initial Justice Department inquiry made in 2019 regarding a federally brokered plea deal in 2008 regarding a federal sexual abuse investigation .  Not done: This would need coverage from secondary sources (see WP:BLPPRIMARY), and the emails between Hiltzik and Epstein don't fully support your proposed wording. An invoice in the Justice Department tranche shows that Hiltzik Strategies charged Epstein $25,000 for the month of June 2017. Hiltzik, who appears to have been introduced via the writer Michael Wolff, produced a memo suggesting approaches to help recalibrate his client’s image. It included questioning the integrity of attorneys who’d brought claims against him and leveraging what Hiltzik termed “third party validators” to speak out on Epstein’s behalf. The listed potential proxies included a group of then-respected names — Larry Summers, Bill Gates, Noam Chomsky, Bill Richardson, Kathy Ruemmler — who’ve since been tarnished by their association with Epstein.….

Hiltzik tells THR that he never worked on managing the publication of any story about Epstein, and says he broke off ties with the financier after Epstein spurned his advice to take public accountability. Promotional tone and undue detail

This article has picked up a good deal of promotional wording and fine-grained detail that pulls against a neutral encyclopedic tone (WP:PROMO, MOS:PUFFERY, WP:UNDUE). I'd like to work through a cleanup, and I'd like to lay out the direction here first for anyone who also wants to work on this.

Some representative examples:

The subject's reputation in crisis communications is established four separate times, each anchored to a different industry ranking — Sports Business Journal (2017), Business Insider (2021), The Observer (2024), and The New York Times (2025) — with the same short list of clients repeated across them. One sourced sentence covers this, with each client named once at the point where it's relevant.

Several peacock phrases: "the award-winning Paper Clips" (with no award named), "played a primary role in rehabilitating the actor's image," "known for his work helping to build the public image of high profile women," and "the first public relations professional to be named to the board."

"The firm is known for the high number of former employees who have subsequently become notable ... and its low-rates of employee turnover" is unsourced editorializing.

Some biographical passages run long for their significance, including the elementary school, a granular account of a brief 2000 campaign role, and a 2020 note about the theme of a student film competition.
