Amenities, points of interest, etc.

Bonjour, on vient de faire deux rm sur l'article Matour. Il me semble que la rubrique «amenities» a sa place dans cet article. Je ne suis pas d'accord. I don't think you will find many town articles on Wikipedia that have a section called "Amenities". That word belongs to language that we use in English for travel guides, not for encyclopedias. Some town articles have a section called "Sights". That could include such things as museums and churches, but would not include swimming pools and cinemas unless they had some special historical or cultural significance. If you feel you must contribute to the English Wikipedia, you might create an account and discuss your ideas with other editors who work on French community articles, for example here: Wikipedia:WikiProject_French_communes. If I use sections called Tourism and Points of interest, as in many others articles ( Dompierre-les-Ormes for example), can I expect no remove, and a step by step construction of the article (I can't write a perfect article in one shot). First, I'm no authority here. A Tourism section would be appropriate if the town is a significant tourism destination. "Points of interest" is probably better than "Sights". Keep in mind that the Dompierre-les-Ormes article might not be the best one to use as a template. Its principal author is a local resident of that area who may not have broad experience with how community articles are structured on en.wp. Eric ^talk 21:33, 10 October 2014 (UTC)

Hello. Just read your exchange out of curiosity. Eric is right about the word "Amenities" (which usually includes hotels, motels, bed-and-breakfasts, etc., which, unless they are historically or culturally important, would not normally be included in a Wikipedia article). However, I looked at several town and city articles, and they're not all the same. Compare Chilham, Woolpit, and Newcastle upon Tyne, all in England, and Thessaloniki and Tyre, Lebanon, as well as other city and town articles. Look at the table of contents. IP editor, I'm going to add a Welcome template here [looking for the right place] so that you (a) feel welcome to English Wikipedia, and (b) will get links to helpful pages. If you really want to write articles or add material to existing articles on the English Wikipedia, first read some articles and the WP:MOS, WP:OR, WP:RS, and WP:HEP.
