Why a military academy?

One thing that's not addressed in this article is why the Tacoma Dominicans set out to run a military academy. While many nuns have founded schools, a Catholic military school is, well, unusual, to say the least! It warrants explanation. I can't find one online or I would add one. If someone has access to materials on the history of the Tacoma Dominicans or Marymount (there may be published books or archives, either with the Tacoma Docminicans or with Tacoma or state historical organizations), this would be an interesting dimension to research and a valuable addition to this article. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2601:601:1B81:B870:0:0:0:BBF8 (talk) 19:46, 7 April 2024 (UTC)Reply
