2026.06 Article creation

[edit]

Hello all, I have created this article after seeing this scientist in the news a lot and learning that he doesn't have a Wikipedia article. I've taken as much care as I can to follow Wikipedia:Biographies of living persons guidelines.

95% of sources are secondary sources following WP:SCHOLARSHIP, mostly news articles that talk about Dr. Scherz's research. There are some articles that are interviews with him - I've bookmarked them but I haven't read them yet. I've also added the primary source (i.e. the paper where Dr. Scherz makes x or y discovery), which is why there are multiple citations given for some sentences.

According to WP:BLPSELFPUB, self-published sources may be used as a source if "it is not unduly self-serving nor an exceptional claim; it does not involve claims about third parties; it does not involve claims about events not directly related to the subject; there is no reasonable doubt as to its authenticity; and the article is not based primarily on such sources." This is why I have used Dr. Scherz's About page on his website as sources in two places: the podcast and his personal life.

Please let me know if you have more information from reliable sources, and if you have any suggestions or corrections about the article. Felinaex (purr / pawprints) 20:02, 8 June 2026 (UTC)Reply

To do list

[edit]

Current wordcount of the article according to prozesize is 961 words.

List of things to work on:

  • add "Selected publications" section
  • add "Views" section
  • general copyediting and making it less WP:PROSELINE

Please reply to this comment or make a new topic if you have more suggestions. Felinaex (purr / pawprints) 20:06, 8 June 2026 (UTC)Reply

Nationality

[edit]

"I have German-British parentage/ancestry and American citizenship"

This could mean he is German, with one or two British parents. It could mean he is British, with one or two German parents. It could mean he was born just about anywhere, from one British and one German parent. It could mean he had British parents who were descended from Germans. Or German parents who were descended from British. It could mean a host of things. It doesn't necessarily make him German-British. It may be he prefers to be identified as German, or British, or even American. We can't say. --Escape Orbit (Talk) 16:03, 13 August 2026 (UTC)Reply
