Justification Of Article

I realize that an encyclopedia article for every casualty of the war in Afghanistan, let alone every war ever fought is a foolish notion, so I can understand if anybody would question the reason for creating an article for a Canadian Private. I figured that the nature of his death, and his previous career as an Olympic athlete, warranted the creation. GregMitch 01:29, 7 September 2006 (UTC)

Given the result of the WP:AfD debates on recent articles I nominated for deletion on other military figures, I suspect this one would also survive a nomination. Proposed new Legacy section

I'd like to propose adding a Legacy section to this article, supported by three independent sources. Suggested text:

Legacy

On September 3, 2010, the City of Hamilton renamed Olympic Park — a park where Graham had played as a child — as Mark Anthony Graham Memorial Olympic Park, on the eve of the fourth anniversary of his death.

An annual track and field competition, the Mark Graham Memorial Track Meet, is held in Hamilton, Ontario in his honour. The meet features youth and senior divisions across a range of track events, including relay races and Para athletics categories. The event was still active as of May 2025.

Both the park renaming and the track meet meet Wikipedia's notability and verifiability standards, with coverage from a local TV broadcaster, the Government of Canada, a regional newspaper, and official meet results. Csmillie (talk) 03:04, 10 March 2026 (UTC)
