I recently added an infobox to this article, and it was reverted by an editor citing WP:BRD. I don't really understand the reason behind this, as I have never really felt infoboxes are controversial, and are useful to readers. Also, WP:BRD is not a policy but an outline, and specifically says within it that it should not be used as a reason for reverting good-faith edits. Because they are controversial. Articles are not 'born' with IBs, and their use should be considered carefully before they are put in. In a case like this, they add little to the article, and the key information is comfortably held in the opening lines of the lead. - SchroCat (talk) 14:08, 6 August 2016 (UTC)Reply
Be advised that infoboxes are highly controversial. See WP:DISINFOBOX. In may cases, such as an arts biography, infobox adds little. Here, the proposed infobox contains only redundant information and emphasizes random factoids stripped of the nuance that they enjoy in the article itself. It adds a pile of code at the top of the article that will discourage new editors, and it delays the reader from getting to the substance of the article and so may discourage them from reading it altogether. -- Ssilvers (talk) 16:19, 6 August 2016 (UTC)Reply
