Neutrality and COI

Agree that neutrality is better, but there are still a number of issues with the article, including COI and that much of the info in the article isn't cited or cited by a reference that doesn't contain the info preceding it. Also, it's still written like a combination of CV and press releases. What's meant by COI is that the article is written by a close connection to the subject who's able to write details about them not available in sources. For instance, the reference for the last sentence in the lead doesn't contain any info about the subject's connection to La Roche University. The first sentence under Career reads like a CV, and the reference with it is about a new performance space opening and doesn't confirm it. There are plenty of other examples like this, and they need to be fixed. The sentence at the end of career section is promotional "In 2025, she launched the athleisure line MAC x Fayah in partnership with FAYAH Athletics." The reference to it is very promotional, and when I clicked on the 1883.magazine/about link it went to a page in Turkish about an internet/mobile provider, i.e. it's not a reliable source. The article has been heavily edited over the past couple of months. Thanks for your clarification. I now see what you mean except for the 1883 article. When I click on the link, an article comes up about a MAC x Fayah clothing launch in Milan with photos of models on the runway. To me, it supports the sentence pretty clearly. I made some more edits and tried to delete things that weren't cited and then added more citations where it looked like they were needed. I took down the notice since I think the citations rectified the resume issues. Not sure what to do about COI. If it all comes from the cited articles, what do we do then? Upon re-reading the article, the main issues are WP:PROMO #4 (Self-promotion) & #5 (Advertising, marketing, publicity, or public relations). I really should have used the {{Promotional}} tag instead of the {{Resume}} one. What it looks like has been done so far is to try to keep the content as written and find citations to support it. Now the article suffers from WP:REFBOMB as well as PROMO. Note some claims have five references - most claims should only have one, maybe two, in special situations three but not five. See WP:OVERCITE. Also see WP:Verifiability and WP:NPOV. Note that DanzApp and 1883 Magazine don't have editorial oversight and aren't reliable sources.

Regarding PROMO, statements like Caruso has worked internationally as a master teacher, leading classes, workshops, and residencies for professional companies, universities, conservatories, and community organizations across North America, Europe, South America, and the Middle East reads like something on a LinkedIn profile or press release. Similarly the paragraph after that sentence. Ditto the sentence after that in the section "Performance Career". If I were to edit it I would take all these out as they don't really tell me anything about the subject and read as promotional to me.

I realize that there are articles on Wikipedia that have promotional content, and it's likely that no editor has yet fixed them, added a maintenance template, or proposed WP:AFD, although it usually happens sooner or later. But since I was the one who found reliable sources in the Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Maria Caruso discussion so an article about this subject could be kept, I feel a responsibility that this article be written as an encyclopedic entry and meet Wikipedia policies & guidelines. It's better. I removed some other content that was overly detailed/PROMO. I'm OK with the article now, but you and @JRC22 should declare a COI before removing the COI template from the article, which you can do several ways including adding a template to your talk User pages. It appears that you have a connection to the subject as your only edits were to participate in this article's AFD discussion and then edit the article. I had just assumed given the timing of your account creation and edits that you knew the subject or someone close to the subject had asked you to edit the article, so apologies if that is not the case. I'm not comfortable removing the COI tag myself as there is an appearance of COI, but I'm not planning on doing further edits here for the time being. Nnev66 (talk) 15:07, 27 January 2026 (UTC)

I thought I declared COI in 2022 with the note on my talk page, but I was just an intern then and working on the article was my doing and idea. I've been editing since then based on e-updates and articles even though I moved on from my short term position many years ago. I appreciate what you and others have done to preserve the article, and it is good to see that people are interested in her work. Since every edit that I made has been removed or altered, I don't think the COI should be up. The article is totally different now but remains factual. That is what is important. Given the recent edits and what has been discussed on this page, I am removing the tag. I am also removing myself from all future editing. JRC22 (talk) 23:33, 8 February 2026 (UTC)
