• This is a new and sufficiently long article. Sources verify the content, but one appears to be a random blog. I also do not understan what "in exchange for her body" means. I see no neutrality or copyright issues. I believe that a hook about her murder would be more interesting to readers. Thanks for writing this, Jolielover. Surtsicna (talk) 07:25, 12 June 2026 (UTC)

@Surtsicna: I deemed the source appropriate as the author Maria Máxima Vaz is an academic & professor at NOVA University of Lisbon (see , ), she is a historian specializing in Maria Afonso's father King Denis. For the second part, I wrote it like how the source does as I do not want to insert any of my original analysis. To me it sounds like he did that to have her as his mistress, but like I said, I don't want my interpretation in since it's not 100% clear. And sure, I added an alt hook, feel free to rephrase it if you'd like. I just personally am iffy about hooks about crime, but this one is 700 years old. jolielover♥talk 10:43, 12 June 2026 (UTC)

Sources can still be unreliable even when the author is an expert, Jolielover. If she is an academic historian, can we not cite a published, peer-reviewed source instead of the blog? I think your interpretation of "in exchange for her body" is reasonable, but so is your decision not to interpret it yourself. Unfortunately, saying "in exchange for her body" in wiki-voice does not work because it is not exactly idiomatic. Perhaps a Portuguese speaker can tell us whether this is an expression that means becoming one's mistress. Otherwise it should probably go under quotation marks. @Surtsicna: From my experience, sources can be considered reliable if written by an accredited academic, even if it's for a source of generally questionable reliability per RSP. I find Maria to be a credible writer. Also, it's not a blog. It is a newspaper. This section shows all their journalists. There's no reason to believe this source is unreliable.
