Number of DS9 episodes Alaimo appeared in

The article Dukat (Star Trek) mentions 35 episodes of the series “Deep Space Nine” in which he appeared, while this article says it were 37 episodes.

Does anyone know th exact number of episodes of DS9 Alaimo appeared in? --Feeela (talk) 19:09, 30 August 2016 (UTC)

Pronunciation

I've heard "Ah-LAY-mo" and "Ah-la-EE-mo." Which is correct? And if you decide to add pronunciation, you'd be doing me and probably others a favor if you'd use real English letters and not those symbols. 2600:1017:B825:85C3:0:51:3FD5:8B01 (talk) 08:56, 6 July 2021 (UTC)

Notability

This article subject does not appear to meet Wikipedia's notability requirements. I'm surprised it's so difficult to find reliable, independent, secondary sources that contain substantial coverage of Marc Alaimo, given his long acting career and popularity among the Star Trek fanbase, but here we are.

The existing three citations do not even come close to establishing notability. The first (a Daily News profile from 1996) is a good start, but it's relatively short and can't carry the entire article on its own. The second is just a link to Alaimo's Rotten Tomatoes page and is only used to verify his filmography. The third fails verification (it links to a video unrelated to the one described).

Other substantial coverage from reliable, independent, secondary sources is hard to come by. I found this 2024 piece by Screen Rant, which pretty much just describes each of the characters Alaimo played within the Star Trek franchise. I found this 2025 piece on the blog SlashFilm. I found this 2014 piece on Star Trek's official website (which is obviously a primary source).

It just doesn't seem the sources I found combined with the existing sources are sufficient to establish notability. If I'm missing something, please respond below, as I don't want to nominate this article for deletion unnecessarily. DoItFastDoItUrgent (talk) 04:06, 7 December 2025 (UTC)

To quote the notability guidelines directly: "If it is likely that significant coverage in independent sources can be found for a topic, deletion due to lack of notability is inappropriate."

He was the biggest and most charismatic villain (and one of the most popular characters) throughout a pretty highly rated show that ran for 7 years, a show that won 3 Emmys and was nominated for dozens more. This series in question is part of the second-biggest sci fi franchise of all time. He was in dozens of movies including such obscure indie films as "Naked Gun", "Tango and Cash", "The Dead Pool", "The Last Starfighter", and "Total Recall". (I came to look him up because I just spotted him in Total Recall and wondered what else he had done.)

I didn't write any of this article (that's not why I'm piping up) and I don't have the time or patience to go hunting down better sources. I really have no idea what motivates "contributors" such as yourself... I am merely making the passing observation that it would be pretty darn inappropriate to delete an article such as this one--it's clear that notability-establishing sources do exist somewhere (regardless of whether or not you can find them.)

If you wanted to take it upon yourself to improve the article by finding better sources, I recommend trying good AI search engine. This can be much less labor-intensive than Googling.
