Some grammatical notes, by section: [Lead section] Rather than "throughout the world", maybe give some concrete examples of places/academies. [Early Life] second sentence: remove "also" (chronologically, Alvar is not established as a philologist yet). "received his doctorate FROM..." [Fieldwork] start with "Alvar's rather than "his". "words elicited FROM residents" [Membership] "He was also a member...AND la Academia (last item in list)". Last sentence: move "beginning in 1963" to the beginning of the sentence. [Influence] "work in dialectology has been HIS/THE most influential" (?) "Romance languageS" "developing the Spanish Medieval Dictionary" (no CAPS on "the") second-to-last sentence: "most comprehensive atlases OF SPANISH IN THE UNITED STATES" (?)
