Bias
[edit]This article is extremely biased. It offers no criticism at all towards Manchesterism, despite this being prevalent in many reputable sources such as:

I'm not a very experienced Wikipedia editor, so things like learning how to create entirely new sources and link to articles and that type of thing aren't things I'm confident I'd do correctly. I'll probably give it a try at some point though, as the abject lack of criticism from this article makes it very low quality. Arguably it would want a criticism subheading with the current reception subheading changed to something explicitly positive, and I definitely wouldn't know how to do that!
The criticism roughly falls into these categories:
- Manchesterism is continuity / still just neoliberalism / not different - Manchesterism can work on a local, city-wide scale but expanding that to a national scale would face the same issues as other ideologies with leaving some areas behind / poorer than others so it doesn't actually fix regional inequality which is the whole purpose - Manchesterism doesn't actually didn't work that well in Manchester anyway (due to being so pro-business, using PFIs, etc.)

- specifically the criticism is I guess less that it's still just neoliberalism (though some sources do say this) but that it's definitely not socialism, whatever it is (most critical sources say this) Jjcelever (talk) 12:50, 23 June 2026 (UTC)
- Article isn't biased, it doesn't endorse it or Burnham himself - it just lacks counter points at the moment. I expanded it based on what I could and the article definitely still needs more. Finlayy (talk) 21:05, 24 June 2026 (UTC)

- Hi there, I've changed the Reception and analysis subheading to simply say Reception, plus changed some of the wording in the first paragraph and added some more sources critical of Manchesterism in a new paragraph.
