2026 Yangsi sexual abuse allegations edits
[edit]I wrote (and someone deleted) the following passage:
--quote begins--
Maitripa's chief academic officer (and Yangsi's personal assistant), Miranda Adams (“Namdrol"), reportedly used her position to protect Yangsi, with whom she was in a decades-long romantic relationship, even co-owning a house with him. [1] She is now the college president.
--end--

UPDATE: User "Apneiro" wrote--in the article text, not the talk page--"This information is not verified and is misleading." I assume this refers to the deleted material, and not to the text it follows. Well, the events were covered by a local newsweekly, and Maitripa / the FPMT has issued statements in response to them. Yangsi has been suspended, and replaced by Adams. If there is another side of the story to be told, then find a source presenting it. (An FPMT /Maitripa statement would be fine, if they comment.) --Dawud — Preceding unsigned comment added by ~2026-43267-17 (talk) 22:55, 24 August 2026 (UTC)
PS. For clarity (and ease of reverts, if it comes to that), here is the next as I have revised it:
text begins---------------
On 3 June 2026, the Portland alternative weekly Williamette Week reported on allegations of sexual / spiritual abuse by Yangsi Rinpoche, the college's president and spiritual director since its founding. His former student, Sunitha Bhaskaran, accused Yangi of abusing his authority as guru to coerce her into a five-year sexual relationship. Yangsi (aka Kesang Tuladhar) denied the allegations, but was placed on leave by Maitripa's board pending a third-party investigation by Carol Merchasin (whose report has not been released). Bhaskaran reports receiving pressure from several board members to forgive Yangsi. [3] Maitripa's chief academic officer (and Yangsi's personal assistant), Miranda Adams (“Namdrol"), reportedly refused Bhaskaran a copy of the Merchasin report. Adams and Yangsi have been partners for decades, and own a house together. [4] On Yangsi's suspension, Adams was named the college president.
text ends-----------------------
So, comments? --Dawud — Preceding unsigned comment added by ~2026-43267-17 (talk) 22:59, 24 August 2026 (UTC)
