Meheri:

Meheri is one largest tribes that inhabit Yemen (Al Mahra State), Somalia, and other Arabian countries such as UAE, Qatar and Kuwait.

Mehri people who inhabit Somalia are mainly of Bani Namar sub-clan (Mohmud Salah, Hassan Salah and Omar Musse). The Meheris are resourceful merchants who took lions share in finding and establishing most of urban somali communities (cities & towns) and overall advancement of Somali civilization.

It is well known fact that prominent Meheri business people reside in the centre of town and cities of Somalia from coast to coast. Page name

I'm curious as to why the page was moved from "Meheri people" to "Mahri people". The edit summary said "pronounce" () but the only cited spellings are for "Mehri" or the alternate name Arab Salah/Carab Saalax. (In fact, it's the only cited reference in this article.) I don't see how the page move was justified, though I'm not sure the original "Meheri" was correct, either. -- Gyrofrog (talk) 16:40, 14 June 2012 (UTC)

I've gone ahead and moved the article to Mehri people, as again, that's the cited spelling. Also compare Mehri language. -- Gyrofrog (talk) 15:48, 8 August 2012 (UTC)

This article is misleading- Somali

Al-Mahrah/Mehri tribe in Yemen and the Gulf States they don't speak the Somali language, they speak Mehri, Soqotri languages only and Arabic as a second language

The Arab Salah clan in Somalia is of unknown origin THEY aren't from Al-Mahrah/Mehri tribe if they speak the Somali language and doesn't speak Mehri then aren't from Al Mahrah tribe

Al-Mahrah/Mehri doesn't consider themselves independent ethnic group they see themselves as Arabs

All the inhabitants in Al Mahrah Governorate are from the Al Mahrah tribe and most the inhabitants of the island of Socotra from the Al Mahrah tribe. there is 108,000 Mehri in Al Mahrah Governorate, and 42,842 in Socotra

20 thousand in Saudi Arabia

50 thousand in Oman (Dhofar)

14 thousand in Kuwait

What kind of logic are you trying to use lol? If they live in Somalia they will eventually speak Somali. AcidSnow (talk) 21:50, 8 February 2015 (UTC)

I don't get why they are classified as an "Arab/Saleh" tribe? They don't even speak Arabic but have their own native tongue related to South Arabian languages. Mehri people → Mahris – No need to use "people" as this is a ethnographic group, similar to Soqotrans, not "Soqotran people", Maronites, not "Maronite people'. Mahri is usually spelled with an 'a', consistent with related-articles such as Mahra Sultanate, not "Mehra Sultanate", Al-Mahrah Governorate, not "Al-Mehrah Governorate" etc. Also, "Mahris" have 311 results in Google Scholar results while "Mehris" have 244 results.
