Birthplace
[edit]The article mentioned that Mahadevi was born at Allahabad. But I believe it was Faroukhabad. utcursch 11:28, Oct 29, 2004 (UTC)
Monkhood
[edit]From what I've read in her books Mahadevi Verma was not unsuccessful in becoming a Buddhist monk. She apparently visited Sarnath where a Sri Lankan monk was ordaining Indians but changed her mind when the monk refused to look at her directly (because she was a woman and he had taken an oath of chastity). She considered that an insult to womankind and decided against becoming a monk.

Stamp and award images
[edit]Amkgp, Whiteguru, I note this is now designated a GA and currently on the main page, good work. Two issues, a couple of the non-free images have "n.a." in one or more of their fields. This is not acceptable as for fair use there needs to be compliance with all aspects of WP:NFCC. If these are not remedied, the images will need to be removed from the article so they can be deleted. Cheers. The Rambling Man (Stay alert! Control the virus! Save lives!!!!) 08:47, 30 January 2021 (UTC)
- The Rambling Man OK, thanks for raising this, I will take another look at the article, anon. --Whiteguru (talk) 09:10, 30 January 2021 (UTC)
- No worries, it happens quite a lot and I'm not sure the nuances of NFCC are really covered satisfactorily in WP:GA?. It wasn't so crucial back in the day, but now GAs get a run on the main page via DYK, we're increasing the exposure of non-free images substantially so we need to get the rationales right. Cheers. The Rambling Man (Stay alert! Control the virus! Save lives!!!!) 09:15, 30 January 2021 (UTC)
- Whiteguru, The Rambling Man I have updated the n.a. of the images. Thanks — Amkgp 💬 09:23, 30 January 2021 (UTC)
- The Rambling Man You are right, GA reviews got to DYK so quickly! On a more serious note, WP:NFCC doesn't (currently) get a mention in the reviewing instructions. I'll look into this anon.

Copy Editing
[edit]This article appeared through the Wikipedia:WikiProject Guild of Copy Editors page. I attempted to do some copy editing, however it's rather a large project for someone brand new to copy editing. More importantly, I believe the article would benefit from editing by someone who is fluent in Hindi and can read and evaluate original sources. Lorelai Bennet (talk) 10:57, 26 June 2025 (UTC)
Confusing quotes - copy edit
[edit]Hello wikepedians, There is a copy edit request, but I believe the copy edit problems are present inside quotes. I do not know if and how much we can grammatically correct quotes. Pimlokto (talk) 16:48, 27 July 2025 (UTC)
- I thought the request might be for the section as a whole? As in someone thought that it was unnecessary to have like 8 paragraph-length quotations for the section, and wanted someone to just replace everything with a paraphrase of the sources? Sapper1984 (talk) 14:51, 30 April 2026 (UTC)
Article review
[edit]It has been a while since this article has been reviewed, so I took a look and noticed lots of uncited statements. There is aso a discussion from a couple months ago relating to a copyedit of the "Critical analysis" section. I think this section needs to be reworked to rely less on quotations and instead have the information written as prose. Should this article go to WP:GAR? Z1720 (talk) 01:47, 25 December 2025 (UTC)

Already done : One of the issues have already been fixed, another is part of a quote so it shouldn't be changed, and the other two issues seem to belong to sections that have since be rewritten. FlammablePizza (talk) 21:04, 30 June 2026 (UTC)

Violation of Neutral Point of View principle?
[edit]Sorry, I'm a new editor and had this as a suggested copy edit, however, the introductory section of this article seems to have language that is rather opinions-based. However, I don't want to make copy edits for neutrality as it seems that this person is rather influential within their respective field. MaskedHarbinger (talk) 00:03, 12 May 2026 (UTC)
- I see what you mean. I can't read Hindi, so I can't verify the statement's source. That said, I'll point you to WP:SUBJECTIVE which is relevant here.
- Regardless of any subject's apparent influence, if you think an article can be improved, please feel free to be bold and improve it. If someone disagrees, they can always revert your edits and discuss (WP:BRD). Kodning 🌸 (talk) 07:36, 26 May 2026 (UTC)
