I researched some books on that particular website to find the same book and got to know that the original book page have shorter url without extra referral IDs. So, This the original book page, please update it if you're the right person who's handling this page: https://www.exoticindiaart.com/book/details/complete-mahabharata-translated-by-padma-bhushan-shripad-damodar-satwalekar-set-of-16-volumes-nai945/ Kartikexplorer (talk) 12:42, 15 April 2025 (UTC)Reply

change the line: "Among the principal works and stories in the Mahābhārata are the Bhagavad Gita, the story of Damayanti, the story of Shakuntala, the story of Pururava and Urvashi, the story of Savitri and Satyavan, the story of Kacha and Devayani, the story of Rishyasringa and an abbreviated version of the Rāmāyaṇa, often considered as works in their own right."

to: "Among the principal works and stories in the Mahābhārata are the Bhagavad Gita, the stories of Damayanti, Shakuntala, Pururava, Urvashi, Savitri and Satyavan, Kacha, Devayani, and Rishyasringa as well as an abbreviated version of the Rāmāyaṇa. "

(the line "often considred [by who?] works in their own right" can be left in, but to me it seems like a vague general opinion) Jacinthelycegenes (talk) 20:38, 8 December 2025 (UTC)Reply

Typo

[edit]

There is a typo in: The Mahābhārata is one the longest epic poems known. Its longest version consists of over 100,000 shlokas (verses)

It should be "one of the longest" or just "the longest" Ibano19 (talk) 13:58, 29 May 2026 (UTC)Reply

Done: inserted “of”. Well spotted! Also made the following mention of the longer Epic of Manas contrastive rather than cumulative, so to speak.—Odysseus1479 19:32, 29 May 2026 (UTC)Reply

Proposed external links: Comprehensive visual guides to the narrative and Kurukshetra War

[edit]

Hello! I have created two comprehensive video adaptations of the Mahabharata text. To maintain compliance with Wikipedia's Conflict of Interest (COI) guidelines, I am proposing them here for independent editor review rather than adding them myself.

I believe these videos offer substantial educational and visual value to readers attempting to navigate the complex structure of the text:

1. Kurukshetra War Timeline (approx. 1 hour 40 minutes): A strictly chronological, visual depiction of all major battles and actions across the 18-day war as described in the epic. This is literally every encounter between Pandavas and Kauravas.

  • Link:

2. The Pandavas Biography: A visual narrative mapping the complete storyline and major plot points of the Pandavas from birth to death.

  • Link:

If an independent editor agrees that these visualizations serve as helpful external resources for understanding the narrative flow, I would appreciate your help adding them to the "External links" section. Thank you! ~2026-36437-07 (talk) 21:21, 22 June 2026 (UTC)Reply

First paragraph should mention the Bhagavad Gita

[edit]

Per MOS:OPEN and MOS:BEGIN, the most notable features of the article's subject should be included in the first paragraph. According to multiple reliable sources, the Bhagavad Gita is one of the most notable elements of the epic poem Mahabharata, as it synthesizes various strands of Indian religious thought and holds a unique pan-Hindu influence as a central text in the Vedanta and Vaishnava traditions. Therefore, the first paragraph should briefly mention the Gita per WP:Lead and MOS:Begin. Thanks. RogerYg (talk) 13:51, 10 September 2026 (UTC)Reply
