Merger Proposal

I think this page should be merged with Magnesium Carbonate because they are the same substance, and there is no need for two pages on this. I believe that this page should be absorbed because of the non-scientific name. --Ralf42 (talk) 23:19, 7 February 2011 (UTC)

No. This page is a mineralogy article about the mineral - that page is a chemistry article about the chemical compound. There exist hundreds to thousands of mineral articles on Wikipedia, each of which has a chemical formula, but they are distinct from the articles about the chemical compounds forming those naturally occurring minerals. The scientific field of mineralogy has developed its own system of nomenclature over the past two or more centuries of study and work. Layout Problem

Needs a clean up

Isotopic Structure

I added points on isotopic structure and information we can gain from this. With increasing focus on magnesites (from Mars as well as carbon sequestration perspectives), this new tool seems to be very helpful in understanding genesis. SurjyenduB (talk) 06:55, 24 May 2020 (UTC)

It may be a worthy topic, but it now is most of this article, which seems like undue emphasis. Would it not be better to have a very brief discussion of just its most magnesite-relevant aspects here, and save the rest for Clumped isotopes? --Kent G. Budge (talk) 22:18, 29 March 2022 (UTC)

I agree, there is way too much isotopic structure explanation here in comparison to the rest of the article content. It is difficult on a first reading to tell how it is relevant and obscure the other important content in the article. Magnesite

I think it's important to add its usage in sound insulation. I know nothing about that myself but came to this page because of the reference on the Ministry of Sound page to being used as a sound insulator. Sad to see no info on it here Zephaa (talk) 00:29, 18 December 2025 (UTC)
