Contested deletion
[edit]As a game on the front page of the website with the highest Alexa rank, and since it has reliable sources to back up its existence, I do not think its notability or importance is in question or unclear. –Matthew - (talk) 08:34, 31 October 2016 (UTC)

- Image 1 is all good HurricaneZeta (T) (C) 16:52, 15 October 2025 (UTC)
- Image 2 - I don't think a GIF is needed here? Could be just the cat doing something like drawing a shape? HurricaneZeta (T) (C) 16:52, 15 October 2025 (UTC)
- I think the gif conveys the gameplay mechanic to the reader much more easily, especially since it demonstrates that the ghosts vanquish when their different corresponding symbols are drawn. It’s not really something that a still image can communicate as easily due to the quick death animations. PrimalMustelid (talk) 17:07, 15 October 2025 (UTC)

Prose review
[edit]Lead
[edit]Each game consists of five levels, all of have different bosses and settings.
Needs to be fixed HurricaneZeta (T) (C) 17:03, 15 October 2025 (UTC)While the first game takes place at the wizardry school, the second occurs in the deep sea and the third in the earth's atmosphere.
Is "While" needed here? I think this could just be a statement - the first game takes place at..., second game takes place at,... etc. HurricaneZeta (T) (C) 17:03, 15 October 2025 (UTC)the Google Doodles team opted for a cat protagonist who defeats enemies using spells the next year
using spells the next year -> using spells for the next year HurricaneZeta (T) (C) 17:03, 15 October 2025 (UTC)by the Google Doodles artist Juliana Chen, who was responsible for the art, storyboard, and gameplay conceptions of the first game and was involved in the sequels.
and was involved in the sequels -> (along the lines of) and was also involved in the production of the sequels (to make it clearer) HurricaneZeta (T) (C) 17:03, 15 October 2025 (UTC)The fictional character Momo made appearances in a few other Google Doodles.
You can clarify which other Google Doodles she appeared in HurricaneZeta (T) (C) 17:03, 15 October 2025 (UTC)- Addressed all the above lead concerns. PrimalMustelid (talk) 17:21, 15 October 2025 (UTC)
Gameplay
[edit]the player controls a wizardry school student and black cat named Momo
-> the player controls a black cat and wizardry student named Momo HurricaneZeta (T) (C) 18:05, 15 October 2025 (UTC),fending off ghosts using her magic wand.
-> who fends off ghosts using her magic wand. (per above, removing lead comma as well) HurricaneZeta (T) (C) 18:05, 15 October 2025 (UTC)The ghosts come with different lines and other shapes above them, and certain individuals may have multiple symbols on them, meaning that Momo has to correctly draw the shapes in order from left to right to vanquish the spirits.
andTo do this, the player has to draw the matching symbol(s) on top of each of the ghosts using either their computer mouse or their touchscreen, allowing Momo to vanquish them.
- switching these around would be better. HurricaneZeta (T) (C) 18:05, 15 October 2025 (UTC)- Could change it (above) to something like this:
The ghosts come with different lines and other shapes above them, and certain ghosts may have multiple symbols above them. In this case, Momo has to correctly draw the shapes from left to right to vanquish the spirits. To do this, the player has to draw said symbol(s) on top of each of the ghosts using either their computer mouse or touch screen.
HurricaneZeta (T) (C) 18:05, 15 October 2025 (UTC) For instance, a lightning symbol causes wide-ranging damage against ghosts while the heart symbol effect heals Momo with one heart.
Add a comma between ghosts and while HurricaneZeta (T) (C) 18:05, 15 October 2025 (UTC)Some of them have been added in later entries, such as an O symbol that will apply a shield for her to absorb one hit from a ghost.
reword to ->Some, such as an O symbol [...], have been added in later entries.
HurricaneZeta (T) (C) 18:05, 15 October 2025 (UTC)The first game for instance progresses
-> The first game, for instance, progresses (commas) HurricaneZeta (T) (C) 18:12, 15 October 2025 (UTC)The player earns score points by vanquishing the ghosts, and the score is recorded in the top-right corner.

->A "kill tally" of ghosts is also present on the bottom of the screen.
HurricaneZeta (T) (C) 18:12, 15 October 2025 (UTC)Once the player completes a game entry, the player is given the option
-> the second player is redundant, can replace it with they (they are given the option) HurricaneZeta (T) (C) 18:12, 15 October 2025 (UTC)- Done with all the above issues. PrimalMustelid (talk) 02:59, 16 October 2025 (UTC)
Plot
[edit]and Momo's anthropomorphic friends are taken away.
haven't played this game, any clarity on where they were taken? HurricaneZeta (T) (C) 18:29, 15 October 2025 (UTC)- Rewrote the sentence for more specific details, but the intro cutscene just shows them being swept away by waves of ghosts. We don't see them again until the end when they celebrate Momo having defeated Marshmallow. PrimalMustelid (talk) 02:59, 16 October 2025 (UTC)
Momo consequently fights ghosts and bosses throughout five levels, taking place in the school's library, a kitchen/cafeteria, a laboratory/classroom and a gymnasium.
Can include her motive here, can remove the "/classrom" (and probably one of the kitchen/cafeteria), and can add "respectively" at the end of the sentence. HurricaneZeta (T) (C) 18:29, 15 October 2025 (UTC)- Ended up rewriting the plot for the first game a bit. Should've done that earlier, but I assumed that the earlier plot summary was enough. PrimalMustelid (talk) 02:59, 16 October 2025 (UTC)
Finally, Momo defeats the final boss, a ghost leader named Marshmallow, on the tower/sky and her friends come to congratulate her.
->Finally, Momo defeats the final boss, a ghost leader named Marshmallow, on top of a tower, and her friends congratulate her.
HurricaneZeta (T) (C) 18:29, 15 October 2025 (UTC)It is revealed that Marshmallow has plunged down into the ocean.
Does ocean need to be wikilinked? HurricaneZeta (T) (C) 18:32, 15 October 2025 (UTC)His band of ghosts are summoned into the ocean with him and they proceed to possess various marine animals.
->He summons his band of ghosts into the ocean with him, and they then possess various marine animals.
(reword and switch to active voice) HurricaneZeta (T) (C) 18:32, 15 October 2025 (UTC)The objective and the development of the game are exactly the same as the first, only that the action takes place under the ocean.
-> change to "same as the first, with the only difference being that [...]" HurricaneZeta (T) (C) 18:32, 15 October 2025 (UTC)Momo fights in five stages, each at a deeper level, against ghosts and possessed animals such as [...]
->Momo fights against ghosts and possessed animals such as [...] in five stages, each at a deeper level.
HurricaneZeta (T) (C) 18:42, 15 October 2025 (UTC)Momo also meets a new aquatic sailor cat friend named Captain Sugar and reaches the final stage,
->Momo also befriends an aquatic sailor cat named Captain Sugar and reaches the final stage,
HurricaneZeta (T) (C) 18:42, 15 October 2025 (UTC)- In the above one, I don't think sailor needs to be wikilinked ^ HurricaneZeta (T) (C) 18:42, 15 October 2025 (UTC)
- Removed. PrimalMustelid (talk) 02:59, 16 October 2025 (UTC)
After defeating Marshmallow yet again, who is launched into space by the volcanic eruption, Momo and Sugar have a celebration with all their friends.
->Marshmallow is launched into space by the volcanic eruption, and Momo and Sugar have a celebration with all of their friends.
HurricaneZeta (T) (C) 18:42, 15 October 2025 (UTC)Marshmallow, after being launched to space, finds a purple star and eats it.
->Marshmallow, after being launched into space following the events of the past game, finds a purple star and eats it.
HurricaneZeta (T) (C) 18:49, 15 October 2025 (UTC)- Implemented. PrimalMustelid (talk) 02:59, 16 October 2025 (UTC)
- In the above one, star links to Star polygon, which I feel is again a bit unnecessary. HurricaneZeta (T) (C) 18:49, 15 October 2025 (UTC)
- Delinked. PrimalMustelid (talk) 02:59, 16 October 2025 (UTC)
This causes him to be more powerful, and the ghosts spread into the atmosphere.
Which ghosts? HurricaneZeta (T) (C) 18:49, 15 October 2025 (UTC)- Specified a bit that it's Marshmallow's army of them.
- In the above one, change to "This results in him becoming or powerful," (or something similar) HurricaneZeta (T) (C) 18:49, 15 October 2025 (UTC)
Momo fights the ghosts in five stages which takes place [...] and exospheres
which takes place -> which take place, and also add respectively to the end of that sentence HurricaneZeta (T) (C) 18:49, 15 October 2025 (UTC)- Also done. PrimalMustelid (talk) 02:59, 16 October 2025 (UTC)
In the process, Momo experiences various natural phenomena that take place in the atmosphere being possessed by the ghosts such as [...]
->In the process, Momo experiences various natural phenomena that take place in the atmosphere such as [...] before being possessed by the ghosts.
HurricaneZeta (T) (C) 18:49, 15 October 2025 (UTC)- Rewrote a little bit to be clearer. PrimalMustelid (talk) 02:59, 16 October 2025 (UTC)
Before the final stage, Momo confronts Marshmallow and makes him spit out the purple star, which proceeds to enter the sun and turn it into an evil threat.
The "turn it into an evil threat" part doesn't really sound right to me, maybe "turns it into an evil threat" would be better. HurricaneZeta (T) (C) 18:49, 15 October 2025 (UTC)both Momo and Marshmallow rejoice and the purple star is ejected from the Sun to consequently explode into Halloween candy that falls into the Earth.
->both Momo and Marshmallow rejoice, and the purple star is ejected from the Sun. It consequently explodes into Halloween candy and falls onto Earth.
HurricaneZeta (T) (C) 18:49, 15 October 2025 (UTC)- Changed. PrimalMustelid (talk) 02:59, 16 October 2025 (UTC)

Development
[edit]The Magic Cat Academy series involved multiple different teams to cover areas of game development like art, engineering, and production.
The "involved" wording doesn't look right to me here HurricaneZeta (T) (C) 18:57, 15 October 2025 (UTC)- Rewrote the sentence a bit. PrimalMustelid (talk) 03:23, 16 October 2025 (UTC)

The 2016 Magic Cat Academy game was brought back twice for Google Doodle-related events outside of Halloween in 2017 and 2020.
Can you expand on what these events were? HurricaneZeta (T) (C) 20:29, 15 October 2025 (UTC)- Expanded on the information. PrimalMustelid (talk) 03:23, 16 October 2025 (UTC)

Reception
[edit]stating that the games are "addictive."
I think it should be "addictive". with the period outside the quotes HurricaneZeta (T) (C) 20:42, 15 October 2025 (UTC)- Moved the period. PrimalMustelid (talk) 03:23, 16 October 2025 (UTC)
"playing Harry Potter on the GameCube in the early 2000s."
Harry Potter on the GameCube all wikilinks to the same page, it's better to remove that link and link the HP video games to Harry Potter and GameCube to GameCube HurricaneZeta (T) (C) 20:42, 15 October 2025 (UTC)
That should be all for the prose review, ping me when it's done HurricaneZeta (T) (C) 20:42, 15 October 2025 (UTC)
- @HurricaneZeta That should be everything regarding prose suggestions/issues. PrimalMustelid (talk) 03:23, 16 October 2025 (UTC)

Source review
[edit]- Potential copyvios are only backwards copies HurricaneZeta (T) (C) 23:50, 16 October 2025 (UTC)
- Source #1 is used three times, but I would say the first two mentions are unnecessary since there's other sources. It's only important to show that the Doodle was brought back for the 19th birthday. HurricaneZeta (T) (C) 23:56, 16 October 2025 (UTC)
- So I suppose you're suggesting that I remove the first two citation uses of the first listed source? PrimalMustelid (talk) 00:07, 17 October 2025 (UTC)
- Yes because I don't really see anything new in that source that isn't in the others HurricaneZeta (T) (C) 00:14, 17 October 2025 (UTC)
- So I suppose you're suggesting that I remove the first two citation uses of the first listed source? PrimalMustelid (talk) 00:07, 17 October 2025 (UTC)
- The second usage of source #2 isn't needed since the end of the next sentence also cites the same source HurricaneZeta (T) (C) 00:13, 17 October 2025 (UTC)
- Might be nitpicking, but O symbol should be changed to circle since that's what's stated in the source + it's clearer HurricaneZeta (T) (C) 00:13, 17 October 2025 (UTC)
Originally, the game had the player decide on whether they would have Momo save her friends from the apparitions, in which whoever was saved would appear in the ending. There were additional symbol variants that were scrapped for the first game such as the shape of the Eiffel Tower and "gag" spells such as a witch's hat that, if drawn, would place a real one on Momo's head.
The sourcing is fine, but are there also non-primary sources stating this? Alright if there aren't though HurricaneZeta (T) (C) 00:13, 17 October 2025 (UTC)- Passed spotcheck, ready to pass after above issues are addressed HurricaneZeta (T) (C) 00:17, 17 October 2025 (UTC)
- There doesn't seem to be any other sources that reference the cut content from what I can see, no. All the other suggestions have been implemented, however. Thanks for the review, and good day. PrimalMustelid (talk) 00:21, 17 October 2025 (UTC)

Can I offer a variation on the ALT1 hook:
- ALT2: ... that the animator of the Magic Cat Academy Halloween-themed Google Doodles overcame her arachnophobia to design a spider boss that was ultimately rejected as "way too scary"?
If you are not interested, feel free to strike it, Rjjiii (talk) 02:06, 19 October 2025 (UTC)
- That hook variation could work better, sure. PrimalMustelid (talk) 03:39, 19 October 2025 (UTC)
This all checks out. I can support the original two hooks, but someone else will have to review ALT2 if that hook is chosen. Rjjiii (talk) 07:18, 22 October 2025 (UTC)
