Improvements and necessary edits

[edit]

I have a conflict of interest as I am the subject of this article, so I am suggesting corrections rather than editing directly. Factual corrections:

• Swinson ceased membership of the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Choir in July 2024 (currently described in the present tense in the article).
• General Synod membership should be clarified as 1985–2021. (I am not a current member)
• The reference to the inauguration of Pope Leo XIV should read 2025, not 2026.

Nationality and background:

• The lead currently describes Swinson as “English”. “British” would be more accurate as I am of mixed British and Caribbean heritage.
• A Church Times article (24 February 2023) describes Swinson as acknowledging herself to be of Caribbean heritage. It may therefore be appropriate to include a brief statement such as: “Swinson has Caribbean heritage.”

• Subject to editorial judgement, it may also be appropriate to note relationships to notable relatives who have pages including my grandfather, Ludlow Moody, and my great-uncles Harold Moody, Norman Manley, and Ronald Moody, if considered proportionate.

Grateful for any editor input on these points. MissMouse46 (talk) 19:17, 9 April 2026 (UTC)Reply

Ms. Swinson (@MissMouse46), thank you for commenting here. As the person who wrote the article, I am happy to make these corrections (and I appreciate your bringing them to the talk page). I only write about people whom I do not know in real life so it is an unusual experience to correspond with a subject of an article through the talk page, but I am happy to do so to ensure the article is correct.
I updated English to British and the Pope Leo date is fixed. I said you "began serving" on General Synod in 1985 but I can't include an end date without a source providing one; this should still be correct phrasing as it does not state that you are currently serving. Likewise with the Liverpool Royal Philharmonic Choir, since I need a source giving an end date, but the new version should be an improvement.
A few questions: The Church Times article indicates that you "acknowledg[ed] herself to be 'someone with former chattel slaves in my past, and living in a city [Liverpool] which was part of the transatlantic triangle. We live out every aspect of the trade, experiencing it through a wide range of people.'" I don't see a reference to the Caribbean here; is there a source where that is stated more clearly? We will also need sources to include links to any of your notable relatives. Dclemens1971 (talk) 19:29, 9 April 2026 (UTC)Reply
Regarding the General Synod, I was unsuccessful in the elections in 2021. It's difficult to evidence that - I was a rep for Liverpool diocese. the election outcome only shows the successful candidates and you'll see I am not one

whereas I was in 2015 https://www.churchtimes.co.uk/articles/2015/23-october/news/uk/general-synod-election-results
I am trying to work out how I can evidence the Caribbean, my mother came to the UK from Jamaica and studied in Birmingham. https://www.rcseng.ac.uk/library-and-publications/library/blog/pamela-ball/ I am that Margaret. I married in 1981 MissMouse46 (talk) 19:50, 9 April 2026 (UTC)Reply
I can't evidence when I left the choir - but I can evidence that I am not on the list now https://www.liverpoolphil.com/take-part/royal-liverpool-philharmonic-choir/royal-liverpool-philharmonic-choir-members/ MissMouse46 (talk) 19:58, 9 April 2026 (UTC)Reply
As it currently reads, the sentence about General Synod doesn't make sense so when you put in the closure date, please ensure the sentence reads grammatically correctly MissMouse46 (talk) 20:03, 9 April 2026 (UTC)Reply
@MissMouse46 Take a look now. I think everything should be in order. (Your mother sounds like a very impressive figure who, between her FRCS and MBE, would meet Wikipedia's standard of notability in her own right.) Dclemens1971 (talk) 20:19, 9 April 2026 (UTC)Reply
Thank you for making the changes. Could I just trouble you to correct things regarding my mother, Pamela Moody Ball is rather confusing. Happy for Moody to be referenced but it looks like her middle name which it wasn't. MissMouse46 (talk) 20:45, 9 April 2026 (UTC)Reply
