Duh? What radioactivity?

Specific activity of Thorium ores is due to daughter products which with a half life of 14.05 billion years (three times the age of the Earth) do not rapidly accumulate. Thorium decays by alpha particle which would be internally absorbed by the bulk metal alloy.
