I think the earlier sections of this article need more century/year references to anchor the periods involved. I felt rather lost, time wise, in reading this. Thanks Hmains 18:58, 4 July 2006 (UTC)

This Mahabharata branding madras as pishachas is not true, its said to be a place where dharma is weak i.e people including women drink, dance and make merry, but its not outside the land of Aryas, Madri the wife of Pandu and mother of two of five Pandavas came from Madra, Gandhara which was even further west was where the Queen of Hastinapur Gandhari came from, so how were these regions outside the Aryavarta, they were very much a part of it, its just that by the time of Mahabharata the vedic centres had shifted to the Gangetic plain, while other regions such as Madra were considered outlying or at the edge hence the name 'Bahik' also 'Vahik' means one who ploughs the fields or land of ploughs which again is true for this region. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 74.117.79.209 (talk) 06:50, 30 March 2007 (UTC)
