[edit]Proposed update based on recent peer-reviewed publications
[edit]Hello, I am Professor Carlos Martín Montañés, Principal Investigator of the MTBVAC tuberculosis vaccine at the University of Zaragoza. I have disclosed my affiliation on my user page in accordance with Wikipedia’s conflict of interest guidelines.
I would like to propose the following factual and sourced updates to the article:
1. A Phase 2 trial conducted in South Africa evaluated MTBVAC in adults with and without latent TB infection. The trial aimed to define the optimal dose and inform future efficacy trials in adolescents and adults—the populations most responsible for TB transmission.
- Reference:** Luabeya AKK, et al. *Lancet Global Health*, 2025.
2. Additional trials in newborns have also been completed. These support the safety and immunogenicity of MTBVAC in early life.
- Reference:** Tameris MD, et al. *EBioMedicine*, 2025.
Both studies reinforce MTBVAC’s position as a leading live-attenuated TB vaccine candidate currently in clinical development.
I welcome any comments or suggestions on how to incorporate this information in a neutral and encyclopedic manner. I will not edit the article directly and will wait for community consensus.
Thank you, —Carlos Martin Montañes Carlos Martin Montañes (talk) 09:45, 28 July 2025 (UTC)
