Proposed move

I note that the UK Ministry of Defence styles itself MOD not MoD (see Working for MOD). We already have MOD Chicksands and MOD St Athan. There may be merit in moving MoD Abbey Wood, MoD Bicester, MoD Boscombe Down, MoD Corsham, MoD Donnington, MoD Feltham, MoD Kineton, MoD Lyneham, MoD Sealand and MoD Shoeburyness for consistency. Or we could just go with the majority position i.e. MoD. Views welcome at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Military history#MOD or MoD. Dormskirk (talk) 21:41, 4 November 2023 (UTC)

Site considered for housing immigrants/asylum seekers?

Not living in Oxfordshire, I am intrigued to hear that there have been protests by Oxfordshire Stand Up To Racism against a government proposal/move to house an estimated 1,250 asylum seekers/immigrants on the MoD site (not sure how accurate my figure is, might be more). The group's contention is the unsuitability of the site, although opponents have accused them of hypocrisy and NIMBYism given their professed welcome to immigrants. It would make an interesting update if the plans could be mentioned. It makes me wonder what part of the site is affected.Cloptonson (talk) 17:05, 6 July 2026 (UTC)
