Accidents in Germany

[edit]

On 24 February 1981, a US truck carrying a Pershing missile broke down and burned at the village of Sechselberg, part of Althütte Germany. https://www.stuttgarter-zeitung.de/inhalt.unfall-mit-pershing-in-althuette-als-sechselberg-nur-knapp-dem-atomraketen-inferno-entging.57fc1b58-b997-4d47-94da-b1e487d1b310.html? According to Rep. Robert Antretter of the electoral constituency of Backnang – Schwäbisch Gmünd there were seven accidents with US rocket trucks since 1978 in his constituency alone.

On 2 November 1982, a convoy with four US trucks got lost in the Black Forest and suffered multiple brake failures going downhill from Freiolsheim to Waldprechtsweier. Only one of the trucks stopped without collision, one killed a local. https://www.spiegel.de/politik/bremsen-versagt-a-498bd478-0002-0001-0000-000014354045? ~2025-31183-77 (talk) 00:39, 15 November 2025 (UTC)Reply
