Solar system

I do not believe these stars actually exist. But, during the scene when the they are at the Rose Center, you'll notice that one of the characters is entering the astronomical data to generate the drawing of the star systems. In one shot, they show the monitor with coordinates of the binary system (RA 18:49:56.3, DEC +38:23:34.9). While those coordinates are near the constellation Lyra, they do not appear to center on a binary system.

Alpha Lyrae (Vega)

Disambiguation required with Greek instrument

Practical User-Friendly Information

Great article for technical astronomical details, as well as some history/etymology...

But... When is Lyra visible in the US and Canada in March? April? June? July? September? When does it rise? When does it set? How does one find it? There needs to be this information for the average person or beginner amateur astronomer. There needs to be some CONTEXT as far as time and space as to when/where this entity called Lyra is visible. Nearest stars?

The Infobox says there are three "stars" within 10 parsecs, but I could only find two: Vega and the brown dwarf 2MASS 1835+3259. Does anybody know what the third one is? Praemonitus (talk) 23:25, 12 November 2015 (UTC)Reply

Proposed addition of annotated NOIRLab constellation image

Hello. I have a conflict of interest because I am connected with NOIRLab, so I am not making this edit directly. I would like to propose adding the annotated NOIRLab image of Lyra to the article while keeping the existing naked-eye constellation image in place. The proposed change is to add the annotated image near the beginning of the “Features” section, immediately above the current naked-eye constellation image. This would let readers first see the IAU boundaries, stick figure, and labeled bright stars, while preserving the existing image that shows how Lyra appears in the night sky. Based on the current article layout visible in the screenshot, the article is long and has enough text and visual space to support an additional image without crowding the page. The existing naked-eye image appears at the start of the “Features” section, and the annotated NOIRLab image would complement it by providing a labeled educational view of the constellation boundaries and main stars. The current image would remain in place and continue to serve its existing purpose. License note: the file is available on Wikimedia Commons and is marked as licensed under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International license. I am happy for editors to adjust the caption wording if needed. The external caption link can also be replaced with a <ref> citation if that is preferred.
