Lycorma punicea

[edit]

@Dyanega, reviewing your recent edit of the article, I see you elevated Lycorma punicea to a species classification. Was there a recent reclassification/additional data I am unaware of? The only authority I can find on this is "Lycorma punicea (Hope, 1843) in Nagai & Porion, 1996a: 21." (referenced here) but this contradicts more recent sourcing. These sources University of Delaware, EOL still list it as a subspecies of Lycorma imperialis. 🏵️Etrius ( Us) 14:59, 2 August 2024 (UTC)Reply

Yes, there is an apparent conflict, but the World Auchenorrhyncha Database source is authoritative and correct, and much more recent than EOL or the Delaware site, neither of which has been updated to accommodate the recognition of punicea as a valid taxon. The WAD is reviewed and updated on an almost daily basis, making it the best available source for any auchenorrhynchan taxonomy. Dyanega (talk) 16:59, 6 August 2024 (UTC)Reply
