Reactions to Nichols' retirement on social media

Figured I'd ping you on the article talk page. I agree with the change to remove the pull quotes. As for the reasoning to include the MrBeast and Mike Dunleavy posts, they are examples of how Nichols' retirement is viewed in popular culture. Being mentioned by major politicians like Dunleavy and the most prolific YouTuber in MrBeast goes to show how well-known he became.

We can maybe refract the information further but I feel like these social media posts give readers who are unfamiliar with the subject more insight into how Nichols is widely viewed by the public. KnowledgeIsPower9281 (talk) 16:55, 2 June 2025 (UTC)

And we can't jump to the conclusion that this reflects how he is "widely viewed by the public". Again, that's WP:OR/WP:SYNTH. Perhaps it is worth nothing something like "his departure was noted by NAME and NAME" and then we cite their posts (even this I feel is trivial), but little reason to simply re-post their text. Understood. Then perhaps a compromise could be something like this with paraphrased text:

"In a tweet on May 17, 2025, MrBeast supported Nichols' decision, noting that constant recognition in public can be draining. Addressing recognition by notable people on social media is simply undue, because it infuses Wikipedia editor's infusion of perception of importance. If recognition by some other YouTube fad was addressed in a mainstream corporate made source, that would make a difference, but Wikipedia editors shouldn't choose to include a social media recognition of a person who has Wikipedia entry by another person who has a Wikipedia entry. Contested deletion

This page should not be speedily deleted because the subject received a great deal of media coverage resulting from his retirement from YouTube in May 2025. This can be seen in the provided sources in the article. The subject is clearly notable per a google search of either Outdoor Boys or Luke Nichols. --KnowledgeIsPower9281 (talk) 17:16, 27 June 2025 (UTC)
